Bowers CIS Deans Excellence/Hopper-Dean Fellowship

Hopper-Dean Fellows are recognized as part of the university’s prestigious Dean’s Scholar program, named for the Dean of the Cornell Graduate School. The core purpose of this designation is to develop a community of diverse scholars through which connections are established and maintained across all graduate fields. Cornell Dean’s Scholars are invited to participate in a variety of events and programs, and receive priority consideration for opportunities such as the NextGen Professors Program and the Colman Inclusive Leadership Program. Thus, Hopper-Dean Fellows would begin their studies with a cohort of other computing and information science graduate students, and the support of a network of cross-disciplinary scholars who also identify with backgrounds historically excluded from and underrepresented in the academy.

ELIGIBILITY: Nominees for the Hopper-Dean Fellowship must be applying for admissions into a Cornell Bowers CIS graduate school program including M.S./Ph.D. in computer science, information science or statistics and data science; must be pursuing a computing and technology focused degree; and must have selected that they are eligible for a diversity award and submitted a diversity essay.
